Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc. was formed in 1957, establishing its original headquarters in a former dealership in Hollywood, California. Sales began in 1958 and totaled a modest 288 vehicles - 287 Toyopet Crown sedans and one Land Cruiser.

Now headquartered in Torrance, Toyota is the country's third-largest auto manufacturer and is celebrating its 50th anniversary in the United States.
