What do you guys think it would cost to ship a pig back here from San Diego. I leave Friday for a month, and I am currently without a vehicle. I have been shopping for a family hauler, 4wd, toyota to tow my boat and serve Lowe's duty. I know it seems crazy, but what about this. It's the same price as my vehicles I am shopping for, but with probably not as much depreciation.

I would say about $600-750 but guys that do a lot of shipping can usually get better rates even for you...so one of the guys like SOR or DEMELLO or someone might hook you up with their freight company. Last time I checked that was what it was. I shipped two motorcycles round trip for about $600 as well...Branson MO to Palm Bay FL.

Or you can drive it back yourself...but gas would cost more than shipping.

Nice looking pig...

Thanks, I really want a Tacoma, but the prices are insane right now. For $5000 less I could ship this back home and be ALOT happier. I am just not sure how the misses will feel about it.

Trying to decide if I should show here the pics and see if I get shot down right away, or wait until we get out there and just surprise her.

Pigs are kinda different in person. Every pic I saw, I was kind of :meh: about them. Until I saw one in person and drove it. Pure awesomeness!

a few years ago it was a good bit higher. I was gettin 1100 to 1300 qoutes from Kiwi Carries and others from the west coast (NCA and OR). Now that fuel is down a bit I've noticed the quotes coming down. Check out Uship.com where shipping companies bid on your move to ensure the lowest price. I used them for the 45 and got it NYC to NC for 400 bux. HTH.

oh and NICE PIG :D

$800 to $1200 depending on several factors - enclosed, exposed, and the carrier. Be careful, some of the lowballs will screw you over. I did a good bit of research a few years back when I was looking to ship a few rigs.

Ok, thanks.

So does this look like a $16k pig?

You obviously need to know way more to judge, but I am waiting on all that. I asked about whether the motor was gone through and what it looked like before paint.

I agree with Marshall. It's worth that and might not be the best tow rig. In fact, is that Heath's old rig? Marshall, doesn't that look familiar?

EDIT: It's not Olivia, she lives in ATL. But boy, that's one pretty pig.

It was an AZ rig that sold last february on here. I have pics of its original condition. It was gree/white with dome funky dealer pinstriping on the side and hood.

I think you guys are right about the towing part. I remember I hooked my light boat up to the 40 and the 2f and 4 speed couldn't even get out of it's own way.

That plus the owner hasn't touched the motor. He didn't even know the comp. #'s. For $16k I would expect him to know something about the drivetrain, but all he did is buy it, and pretty it up.

Thanks for the help. It would have been cool, but not practical.

If you are going to spend 16k you can get a 100 series that will be much easier to live with. I don't think you will be happy with the pig in 95 degree heat with 50% humitity.

Looks like a clean vehicle. I want a pig but not one for 16k. It is one of the cleanest I have seen. Good luck.

I also this may be a good truck for some treadright tires.

Did 55 come with factory a/c?

As Steve stated it was hit or miss. Early 55's before 76 or so had dealer installed air not factory air. After that they had factory air as an option. Though not many were known to have them. The pig shown above though has the factory air option. That alone adds a good 500-1000 dollars to the cost of the vehicle.

I actually have one sitting in a box waiting one day to go in my pig.

I like the pig eventually I would like to get one. However they are getting hard to fine. Did the guy with the brown one really auction it off? I think he was raising money for a church trip. If so who won it?
