Cost effective portable petrol

what are you guys using for portable petrol canisters?

I would like some portable storage containers at my vacation house. Petrol is almost $5.85 a gallon there

By my house it’s $3.29.

I am thinking of storing 10-20 gallons or so. Doesn’t have to be all in same container

Filling almost anything by gravity from a can is a miserable experience IMO. It's slow. And invariably you will spill some on the ground/vehicle/shoes.

It doesn't sound like this is a convenience or safety idea. Just a way to save a few bucks.

Consider the implications of driving (presumably) long distances in traffic with a significant amount of fuel inside or strapped to the outside of your vehicle.

I regularly transport large amounts of gas and diesel for my equipment on my property. It sucks.

Is what I found. I don’t know if their used cans are any good but they are cheaper. I would also like the fast pouring spout

Would there be any issues at places like Costco to take the cans and fill them up you think in California ?

I'm using my Taco now. Used my Tundra prior.

I went to the fuel depot today. Only got gasoline in a few 5 gallon Justrite type 2 cans, so it was a light run.
Sometimes I'm hauling a 50 gallon skid mounted tank for diesel.
I get salty when fuel gets low.

Ah, then I would get a good Wavian can. They are legal in California, just need to have a "red" marking on them that designates gasoline. So buying them in red is easy, at Costco will allow it as it follows all state and federal laws.

Just regarding the red color law. I have Scepter MFCs, in various colors of greens and tans. But the strap that holds the cap to the cab is red, which insufficient under CA code.

Yes, that's what I use.
Never tried using them to fill an automobile.
They're heavy and robust. I never have any fears banging them around or ratcheting them to the nth degree in the truck bed.
I am filling tractors, bobcat, mowers, etc.
