Saw them today at costco, seems like a different option to the harbor freight rebadged milemarkers. Any one try one yet? Thoughts? Not a bad option with a roller fairlead for $299

damn, I haven't seen them in my local store. My area is not rugged enough I guess.... :)

what's the capacity?

I have one as do alot of other locals as new Warns (any model) start at a grand up here. Mine is one a suzuki sidekick. I would not put one on a heavy vehicle as the 8000 lb. rating is a little optimistic I think. Its S-L-O-W but works well.

For the price its a hell of a deal.

Picked up three of them at Sam's on a closeout last year for $151 ea. I have had mine most of the way apart and looks to be well made. Brother Brian is the only one of us that has one mounted and running, he reports that it pulls well.

link is a MileMarker but the Permanent magnet kind...

Champion in the store a different thing, I imagine?

TRUs, what is yours?

had a look at the champion site: odd, the Champion 8000 lbs is listed as series wound, but the 10000 lbs winch, same HP, is listed as Permanent mag.

The one on the link is the same as the harbor freight models. The one I saw looked a lot different. I will have to check out the champion site and see what they have listed if I see it I will post it over here.

Wow closeout for $151 I would have bought the store out.!!!

thats the one I have. Kinda nice it comes with a baseplate too!

can you rotate the solenoid "box" around if the winch were to be mounted feet first as in the 80 ARB bar?

Kevin, did you put this one in your LX? fits the ARB bar?

Nope. I have held it up there and the holes lineup but needs about 3/8" of spacer between the winch and bumper for the motor side to clear the bumper. With the spacer the control box hits the valance under the grill, it could be clearanced slightly (beat it with a BFH:D). But I don't like the solenoids down there and will be mounting them in a sealed project box under the hood, without the control box there is plenty of room..

The Champion is made in China. It is SLOW. A couple of our guys have mounted them on minis and one guy has it on his tow rig, mainly for loading dead rigs on trailers. We'll report on durability as time catches up with them.

This winch is nothing to brag about. But even a cheapass winch is better than no winch when your stuck. ;)

Mark...

would not even consider it, except for Costco amazing no holds-barred return policy, so if this thing breaks down within a year or 2, you're still golden...!

oh, and "made in China" doesn't mean much anymore IMHO, since just about all of them are nowadays, including the T-maxes and some "US" brands, if I'm not mistaken.... More an issue of what price/quality specs they were told to meet...

Hell, 3 or 4 years & you're probably still good. My brother had a computer monitor from them that broke, returned it like 3 years later, no problems.
