cooling a V8 part 1
I just thought I would put this out there because i have had issues cooling my v8 with a 4 core stock fj radiator , ford toraus fan,, Stock 350 crate motor ,, this is what i have found and i wasnt very expinsive (i know nothing is set in stone) but this worked for me,, Campion 3 core aluminum Radiator (ebay) life time warrenty Part #cc180 they make a four core also you would have to call them to get the part #,, bolts right in for the top radiator hose use Gates #20416 (napa cross #7240) need to trim about 1 1/2 of it er

lower hose gates 20573 (napa 7344) did not need to trim but i did use a flex hose spring inside cut to length and fitted ,180 thermostat fan set to at 190 for low speed manual for high 3 positions switch, now my crusers never gets above 190 no leaks at fittings i belive the radiator has the right 1 1/2 outlets hope this helps someone

Hopefully all of that did not cost more that a huge 7 or 8 bladed, engine driven, air conditioning fan blade---which would have accomplished the same thing.

you mean like a big caddy clutch fan and shroud, tried that,,, but the only time i realy had a problem was on the freeway or pulling a long grad and since after 40mph your pushing more air than a fan can pull,, maybe that 4 core rad was just old and been repaired to many times.. like i said nothing is set in stone,, this just worked for me

Thanks for the info guy.
So now, you are running this Champion radiator with a Taurus fan, and have no cooling issues?
I'm using a Taurus fan and the only times my motor heats up too much is on hot days. ... over 90deg or so...
Have you driven when it was hot out yet?
Thx, B.

what are you using for a temp gauge? stock or after market to keep an eye on your temps

the other day it was 94 degrees out and we have a hwy that is about 15 miles long with a good grade its about 4000 foot climb in elevation my fj would get to 235 before when i would go up it ,,, now it got up to 200 or 205 never got any higher,, the gauge i use is a iequus 7000 series gauge ,,, when i had the gauge checked compared to one of those lazer temp guns, it was saying my gauge was reading about 15 degrees to high ,, now i dont know if thats true, ive had that guage compared to different lazer temp gun before and always with the same results, i go off my gauge temp
