Coolant routing question

Hey there, on my 69 FJ40, I want to pull the heater core from under the dash and save it until I get around to fixing the blower one day.

I was examining the tubing system, and found that the core appears to be supplied from the intake manifold, and returns to a connection at the lower radiator hose. (Pictures below)

My question is, when I remove the heater core, can I simply plug these two passages, or do I need to run a hose that connects these two points.

By the looks of it the supply line has a needle valve on it which might allow one to turn the flow of coolant on or off which would lead me to assume a connection to the lower hose is not necessary?

Any help anyone could provide would be greatly appreciated.

You can just cap them off.

You CAN cap them off, but it is usually easier to get a no-leak seal if you just put a piece of copper tubing between them and a couple of hose clamps.
