Cleaning the block up and noticed that some passages were open and some blocked. Is there a diagram for coolant flow in the 1FZ FE?

The small coolant passages on the webbing between the cylinders were clogged and would only flow from one side of the block to the other. The ones between 5 and 6 were both clear and would flow into the other coolant passages. The driver side one between 2 and 3 was completely blocked. Should all of these be open and free flowing to the other coolant passages like the ones between 5 and 6?

Yes my paint skills are negligible.

Some pics of the headgasket showing blockage. This motor sat for several years.

Those passages go across to the other side at a 45 degree angle (+/-).
I was able to see where they passed by seeing the "hot spots" on the cylinder walls.
I used a long drill bit by hand to clean the crud out of there before I sent her to the shop.
After she came back I checked them again, and blew a ton of air with different tubes, etc, all over that damn water jacket. There's a lot of crud that needs persuasion to get out of there.

Nice work bro! I just went through all this stuff last summer/fall/winter. Hope yours goes at whatever pace you desire. I was in no hurry, and got tired of hearing "got it running yet?".

Yep, that blackish grey crap in the catch pan under the block is what came out after I pulled the oil coolant apart. Lots of passages in there. This one doesn't have to be back together at any certain time but I would like to be driving it! I've got way too many irons in the fire. Go to tomorrow to pick up a new 5th wheel camper to make a new crawler hauler out of.

Nice, decked block?

I was told that those are called steam ports. I clean them out with a drill on the 4A-GE corolla engines that we build. I'd do the same with the 1FZ as we
