Cool SW for APRS users

Dan, the app that comes up in the link is one for operating PSK31, a digital modulation mode used to QSO with low power on HF bands. It is kind of cool to be able to do it through a smart phone instead of a computer though, as long as you don't mind typing on the smart phone.

I'm sure there are other apps out there, I think the concept is pretty neat. There are also schematics on the site for a Smart phone/radio interface via the audio out from the phone.

Anyone build anything cool with the wolphilink?

I just ordered one and will try and connect an old droid phone to a handheld. See if i cant set up something useful, yet stealthy. Dual purpose a mobile rig for group text on the trail. Figure this would be easier to send location data from a lead or broken vehicle too.

For APRS, discussed before in this subforum I'm pretty sure -> http://www.mobilinkd.com/

Bluetooth to your android phone and wired to your rig. I've used it with HT's and also with the FT857D in my 80. Very simple APRS solution that leverages the GPS in your phone (and APRSdroid) to do all the heavy software stuff.

Quite a few neat gadgets to keep the ham stuff fun.

cheers,
george.

Hmm, this would be a good way to get into APRS for not much $$. My VX3 would be a good candidate for this gizmo.

If you're looking for a low cost aprs solution, try Aprsdroid for Android, tied to a $35 BaoFeng handheld radio via home made cable. Total cost, less than $50

Also, check the aprs post I just made in this sub forum. Pretty cool stuff!!
