I've been watching National Geographic's Cosmos series, hosted by Neil deGrasse Tyson, recently and came across this article that did a pretty cool job of explaining some of the key elements of the program:

The Fermi Paradox

I'm sure I'll be tarred and feathered for posting this totally non-cruiser related geek s***, but that's ok...

It opens the door just a crack that maybe, just maybe, there might be more to the story than we realize

Evolution based Creation is the only logical explanation for a universe this big with no other sign of life.

It's the only way I can grasp it. With faith.

That said you should see the stars in Big Bend. No ambient light from cities for 500 miles.

So I ordered two tent poles from Amazon on Friday, total order with shipping was about $20.

BUT today from Amazon i received two packages. My tent poles, plus apparently the best welding helmet (with air filtration) ever made??

Gonna sit on this one for 90 days to make sure they don't come looking for it, but i give that about a 1% chance. It's a warehouse to warehouse transfer according to the packing slip, and it was one of 100. I can't even find an order number, phone number, anything that i could call. Gonna keep looking, but I don't see them ever tracking it down. If so i guess I'm the owner of one very nice welding helmet...

I did just call UPS and told them the package was sent to the wrong address, but they said to contact the shipper. I guess i'll try to call/email customer service at Amazon, see where that goes.

"Some guys have all the luck......"

All I do is complain

If it were me, I'd do the honest thing and tell Amazon. I'm sure they would want the helmet back.

I had a similar experience with Amazon and contacted CS; they were extremely grateful and were amazed that someone would do the right thing given the circumstances. That being said, they took care of me very nicely, and even made note of my deed in my "account notes". Since then, I feel that I have had extra nice CS when I run into an issue--not to mention many perks along the way that have added up for way more than the original deed would have actually cost them. YMMW. I always like to think that there is someone who is going to pay for the mistake if you stay quiet. I'd want someone else to show me the same courtesy if I were ever on the opposite end of an "oops".

I spent an hour on the phone today with Amazon customer service trying to do just that. I got nowhere. The problem with this is that it wasn't part of any order. It was a shipment from 3M to Amazon's warehouse. I can't even find who to talk to thst can look into something like that. I got the names of three people in three different departments from customer service and sent them all emails with a copy of the tracking number on the shipment. If I don't hear back from them after that effort, I think I'm done.

After your latest update, I too would probably consider it mine. You did more than 99% of the population would have done. Not much more you can do now.

Enjoy.
