Rick,
We just got back. I didn't realize that you were there. Sorry about missing the opportunity to catch up. More events coming, see you and Kitty then.

I've never been in the military, but from an outsider-looking-in perspective, I'm pretty sure I wouldn't want to go anywhere near war in this! The article says it's "fast," but when you look at the specs (and see the comparison), you realize it's just a slug compared to the Humvee that's inexcusably slow. At least it's "cheap!"

155,000 for that thing.

Sigh.
Plus after meeting all the government design/documentation/disclosure/cost accounting requirements, this is potentially a break even price or worse for the supplier.

More sighs

Again much respect to those who have/will serve…

But I’d like a roof and doors option for those urban areas the US may visit. Not saying it will stop bullet or shrapnel but would make more sense..

Truth Clutchee......

Give me a 70 series all day long
Special Forces gets them and sometimes uparmored versions. Seen a few uparmor 200's when I was in country..

Makes me feel better.

After reading the article, issuing these to airborne units does make sense and I can see why they would prefer them. In country, airborne typically used 2.5 and 5 ton cargo trucks fitted with bench seats to transport into their patrol area… these trucks are very prone to attack and also have no armor, so there’s not really a trade off. Having a lighter more maneuverable troop carrier for them and not having 2 - squads in 1 vehicle is much better.

The new Toyota 4Runner and Honda Passport Trailsport comparison.............from a gay perspective
