Somebody convince me why I shouldn't run 315s with 850s and 863s, I've searched to no end and it seems like everyone's pretty well split on the issue, I am seriously considering it versus just keeping 33s, so help me out here. Why/why not?

Why, cause they look cool.

Why not, cause they'll rub at full stuff when wheelin and you'll get worse gas mileage. I'm going to get a set just to drive on the road with regardless of what everyone else thinks.

Add spacers and you'll be fine.

Spacers on the wheels or spacers on the springs?

What makes you think that a repost of a rehashed question will garner any different results?

Besides, I don't know lick about you and what you plan to do with your 315s and 850s and 863s.
You gonna wheel it?
Have you regeared?
Do you care about fuel economy?
How much work do you want to do to make them "work"?
Do you care about power or lack there of?

Doug, you are going over the top for his question. If he really wanted info bad he'd search. Just say what i said. You can if you want to, but don't if you don't :D .

You can definetly run 315's with the springs you mentioned, I ran them with 851/860 springs which are far less lift than the ones you mentioned, and with no spacers. It might rub, but nothing major. The gearing is a whole 'nuther bag of worms, some regear others don't...nothing right or wrong in either camp, just opinions.

You 'can' run 315's even on a stock Cruiser if you want, might not work great, but is possible...so is seeing a deer hump a dog, and a S10 blazer with a 2-1/2 foot lift that's termed 'safe'..so lots of things are possible.. :D

You're right.

Forget what I said earlier...

there ya go Doug.

PM me .. I'll convince ya ! :D

Can you put some type of spacers in the rear or just the front? Cause i have the mr. gasket ones for the front.

On Rob's '96 the Nitto 315s fit the front stock, the rear needed 2" spacers under the stops for rub free flex, that maybe reduced by adding wheel spacers. His truck didn't have the mud flaps installed, they will need some trimming to fit the front.

Spring spacers are good for adjusting the ride height. If your just driving on the street, no worries, but if it's going on the trail the axle stops are what needs to be spaced to limit travel to stop the rubbing.

We jack up the truck, support it on stands under the frame and remove the spring from that corner, then jack the axle up while turning the tire. Ether the axle will hit the stop and the tire will still turn (a good thing!), or the tire will rub and you will have to trim the mud flap and/or flare or space the stop down to deal with it.

Carsonmac,

I think you should ask FSIMIG for his recommendation since it appears he is now the forum expert on what it takes to run 35's on an 80 and he has a good grasp of the pros and cons. Besides, if you get in good with him he might give you a set. Seems he's getting free sets of 35's for the asking and he might let you have 4 to test out.

Thanks for the responses guys, I realize this has been covered several times, just wanted to see if I could get anymore opinions. It's going to be wheeled, has not been regeared, power and fuel economy I am willing to compromise, and I'm willing to do the work.
