The Air conditioner in my HJ60 has never worked, I think all of the gas went a long time ago, however the pump itself works fine. I've become quite used to not having airconditioning so I'm thinking of converting it into an air compressor something like the "Endless Air" unit.

Does anyone know anything about whats technically involved in this? I've heard its simply a matter of flushing out the system, and keeping the bearings lubricated. Then attaching hoses to the right bits.

I'd really like to avoid simply destroying the pump by messing about not really knowing what I'm doing so any ideas would be great.

Cheers

Do a search for on board air.

It its a York compressor which some 60s came with or a compressor with a oil resevior you're good to go. If you don't then that compressor relies on the refrigerant for the lubrication in which case you'll have to setup an inline oiler before the pump so that you don't fry it.

Do the search, also try the tech links at the very top of the page.

Cheers
Geoff
