I need some education before I spend (way more) money than I already have. I have a 2011 Base with a lot of options, but not the HID's or AFS system. The standard halogen H11 low beams suck beyond belief. One of the first mods I made was to try some LED's. They sucked marginally less, but I was using $40 Auxito LED H11's off of Amazon. When I got my Victory bumper, I replaced the OEM fogs with the Diode Dynamics 3" pod, DOT approved combo beam pattern. This gets me through. I tried LED high beams, but could never get rid of the flicker, so went with modified 9011 halogens in there, and those are really good.

So anyway, I took advantage of a Black Friday sale and, having been impressed with Diode Dynamics as the sweet spot between great lights and not having to pay 2/3 the cost of the truck, I picked up some SL2 Pro low beams for $140.

Put them in last night, and underwhelmed is an understatement.

So now wondering how legit are the HID drop-in replacements? Ones like these claim to be compatible with the OEM projector housing. True? Anyone done this? I have HID's on my '13 RX and LOVE them.

There are kits like these for half the price of the DD SL2 Pro's. Low Beam: H11 HID Xenon Headlight Conversion Kit - https://www.headlightexperts.com/low-beam-h11-single-beam-hid-xenon-kit

For comparison, picture below, camera setting exactly the same, no editing.

Thoughts on HID's?

Are you sure you didn't take those photos with the same headlight bulbs???
Both photos look identical!
I agree that I easily outrun my low beams and have to resort to high beams and/or my LED light bar when on empty roads. with no moon.

Nope, Christmas lights on eves have different color sequence. Switched bulbs and used the same camera settings. Virtually no difference. the projector housings for halogens just suck.
