hi, this is my first post on ih8mud, i am a total newb when it comes to land cruisers ,especially the 100 series. i am looking at getting one for my wife, as her daily driver. i have not seen this truck in person yet,as its about an hour away from me. just looking to get y'alls thoughts. Toyota Land Cruiser 4WD
the only problem i might have with it is, it was registered in pa and ma. though it was also registered in florida, hoping an older couple had it and traveled south every year:hmm:. thanks in advance.

Looks pretty clean, hopefully that means they did all regular maintenance. Hard to tell from the small pic but it looks like it has the rear locker. I would say go see it in person, see how it drives. My '99 has 200K and feels like it's barely broken in.

I think this place had a different business name not too long ago. If it's what I think it is, I'm not a fan. Most of the vehicles I saw appeared to be northern vehicles with ugly undersides. They're pretty good at taking pictures to not show flaws.

If I'm anywhere close soon, I'll stop by and look at it.

-Chris[/QUOTEI'm hoping this is the case with this cruiser.

i hope this one is solid, though wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't. that would be awesome if you could take a look and report back and much appreciated.

That guy is a dealer in Kennansaw. Sells quite a few on Craigslist. Make sure you get a CarFax and maintenance records.
he sent me a carfax when i emailed him the other night, some type of vehicle report anyways. but what was weird, when he replied to my email from craigslist, there was a bunch of russian writing in the email..........is he possibly russian???

If I recall correctly he did have and accent when I talked to him. He was also very vague about wether the TB/WP had been done.
when i first sent him the email i asked for info on timing belt and everything that goes along with it, vehicle report, number of owners, and any rust issues. i got a vehicle report, which showed two owners, though like you said no mention of tb and everything else i asked him.

That's the place I didn't care for.

I reached out to him about that vehicle a few days ago and he never responded to my TB WP question.
seems typical from what I'm gathering, not in a rush to find one, ill find the perfect one some time or another. wish i could talk her into an 80 series but i won't push it.:meh:

yeah, i think you are r
I've had both. Your wife will be much, much happier with a Hundy. My wife didn't like driving my 80 but loves the 100. Just my 2 cents.
yes, i think you are right, i have an '05 LJ and she hates driving it, i believe its because of the live axles, plus its a manual haha. though, she has had a wk,wk2, and now a liberty, i think she will feel at home in the 100 series.

The original one you posted about looks MUCH nicer. It's only an hour away and worth the trip to go look at it in person and talk to the seller directly if you're really interested. I think the exterior color and the condition of the interior and exterior make it worth looking at. At this point assume it needs a tb/wp job but I wouldn't let that be the deal breaker. I'd say if the undercarriage isn't too rusty and the rest of the truck looks as good in real life, I'd try to haggle down the price a little to offset the costs of "baselining" it and just go for it.

I took a gamble on buying my '99 LX with 215k and no records, so I understand the reservations. I just think that with these 100's, as long as they've had the exteme basic maintenance done and haven't been beaten to death or rusted away, there's nothing that can't be reversed with a little elbow grease and love.

That second one looks pretty ragged. Dent in the tailgate, right front corner is scuffed, that grill, rear emblems? I'd spend my money on the first one and skip the second entirely.

Good luck!
