does anyone know how to disconnect (take out) the metal connectors inside the electrical sockets. i don't want to have to splice the wires; i want to take them out and replace the entire connector, but keep the original plug.

You can try pushing the pins back out of the socket (i.e. push the pin towards the wire while holding socket witha pair of pliers) the pin should slide back exposing the connection point. On the little singe wire push connector you pull the insulator back while holding on to the pin or cut the insulation back and use shrink tubbing to reinsulate

Good Luck!

what type of connectors? the oem flat terminals? if you stick a small (little larger than eyeglass) flat blade screwdriver in on the upper section (noticeable when you look at the side that actually plugs in, there is a raised section directly above the spade), you can flatten the little piece that sticks out and holds it in. once that's flattened, you can pull it out. i can send pics if you need
