Alright, I know it's a stupid question... But does anyone know what size the con-ferr auxiliary tank gas cap is? The PO left a locking cap on there that seems to fit, but the rubber gasket is tweaked and it leaks like crazy if I'm anywhere near full. When I took the '40 to schucks, the guy looked at the fitting and said he had nothing that would fit it (he said that the cap somehow needed to insert into the pipe to create the seal :meh:) any ideas?

I believe the caps we use are identical to the Con-Ferr caps (atleast internally where they twist into the filler neck). Check out www.wiscoproducts.com. We use their vented cap #4855, but they do have other choices.

Hi - were you able to find a replacement gas cap? I am also having problems looking for one. My original gas cap size is:

Outside diameter 2.52 inchs
Inside diameter 1.85 inches (latch to latch)

I tried wiscoproducts but they said they only sell a minimum/bulk order.

Any suggestions on other gas caps I can purchase?

Appreciate it!

Try "Slant" #10704 ????? Gas cap on ebay #231172750932 is a Slant #10704, but the equivalancy is in ebay #171902387407 at a much better price.

The brand is 'Stant'.

I was told (years ago) that an IH Scout cap would fit that neck profile. I bought a locking cap eons ago, but I don't recall the part number.

I ended up purchasing the STANT 10704 from amazon although the dimensions were completely wrong on amazon, i found the dimensions on rockauto.com. Crossing my fingers that it will fit!

The STANT 10704 was a perfect replacement for my beat up Con Ferr fuel cap. Thanks Downey for the advice!
