column shift

Just joined, just picked up a 69. I'm the second owner. A friend referred me to the site, so far I'm impressed with the knowledge here.
can't seem to get photos to upload yet. Give me some time (or a link) to figure it out.
The column shifter on my 69 has come out of the bracket next to the steering wheel. I seems the bracket has stripped as the threads look ok on the bolt piece that threads in.
Any advice on getting a replacement or a fix for this problem?
I'm sure I'm not the first, but didn't find anything with a search.

Mine did the same thing, I drilled and tapped it for a bigger bolt, no problem, I have changed to a floor shifter now.

thanks for the quick response. any tricks to the bigger bolt? does it just thread through the shifter bushing?

Yup, that is what mine looked like, I dont remember exactly how I did it, but I drilled it a little bigger and put in a new bolt, there may also be a better way to fix it, but that is how I did mine.

Many people put a floor shift in thier rig. You could post up in the Wanted section what you are looking for. Some one will have the parts.
