I thought that the gauge cluster trim was body color on 25's, but Ive seen a few that are pewter like a 40 including Steve's. What should it be?

Even though the picture shows the original gauge bezel without the cut out for the column shifter I think it's a repaint and not original. The grey one I have is body color and it's still the original paint. Over forty-five years I think people have tried to update things like the newers 40s. I did this type of thing to my 68 over the years. Later style hard doors, four speed, vent windows in the side windows in the hard top and bucket seats. All 40 parts but off of later years. Now years later the thing to do is turn these old cruisers back to stock which means undoing updates that were done to them over the years. As for my 68 I keeping the newer improvements since there is no great value like there is in the FJ25s:rolleyes:

Yep, everyone I've seen has been body color for the first coat, just about anything on top of that though.

I wonder how that one got pewter? I wouldn't be surprised if maybe it was original......................for that one.

I wonder what Simon has done with that truck, it was pretty original and complete. (A little prod for what I hope is one of those "guests" we see lurking.) ;)

Now that's the kind of positive thinking I like to hear!! :D

Supposedly, Toyota's 25 is supposed to be stock, no?? Its cluster is body color (green).

What does yours have underneath? All mine have been body color , I'll check the parts box.

Parts box says...........body color. At least for 1960, four were that way. Not sure where my older clusters went......one to Gene so he can check the older one.

red (body color ???)

I think that one was red, you'd have a lot of chipping to get down to the original paint on that body.

My 1960 FJ25 gauge cluster faceplate was body color over gray primer originally. I checked the glove box door and inside and outside was the beautiful factory antique white color, this is under gray primer--dark metallic blue---gray primer---light blue---gray primer---red---brown primer---woodland camo
