Ok, i replaced the thermostat in my 1988 FJ62, along with the top of the water housing, the water hose, and both gaskets. While the engine now get's up to temperature much faster, it runs very very poorly when cold, so much so, that's almost undrivable.
The symptoms include, rough idle, surging, no power below 2000 rpm, and stalling. Once the vehicle is fully warm, it runs fine (even though the idle is still a bit low). So am i looking at a faulty fuel pressure regulator? EGR valve? ISC? TPS? bad fuel injectors? And if so, what's the best way to test these items?
I'd very much like to solve this to make the vehicle more drivable.
Thanks
