it appears that you moved your rear axle back a bit. am i correct? that thing looks like a lot of fun.

That is a cool conversion...but didn't you lose a bunch of ground clearance with the coilover setup out back?

Is that truck a turbo diesel? I would imagine so....

Coils

Hi.

Yes I moved the rear axle 33cm back.
Yes it is 12ht Turbo Diesel engine (am working on installing itercooler)

I have no idea what you mean by "coilover setup" but I am happy with the ground clearance ;) and much better suspension than the leaf springs.

The fender flares are must here in Iceland, we must cover the tires to be street legal....

That sucks man. I figured it was a law thing. There are some rules like that here in certain states. Thank goodness mine doesnt have laws like that!

Cool build. Crazy ice driving!!

I thought is was a very impresive upgrade .. with a lots of work but easy to get 6" slee coils and work with this plataform .. :D

I understand there purpose please dont get me wrong. I just think they look silly. I would have gone with a different tire combo in order to prevent them. Or is it needed to have such fat tires in Iceland?

tires

We use the "fat" tires for snow driving. The fatter the better ;)

I'm using 38" ground hawk tires and 14" wide rims. When driving in the snow we air down to "max 2 psi" and hopefully we can float on top of the snow.

Some guys here are using 38" tires on 15-16" wide rims and 44-49" tires on 18-22" wide rims.

This pic shows Ford f-350 running 49" super swamper tires an 22" rims with beadlocks http://www2.propichosting.com/Images/450008105/29.jpg

good gosh!!!

Hi Ruffy. I dont know of a kit specifically for 60 but because the the 60 and 75 suspension is not too much different maybe this company could help.

http://www.calbah.com/services/automotive.html

Another oz company doing coil overs is ORI (Off Road Industries)

I think this might be the 75 in Calbah's homepage
Sticks 01 (Small) (Medium) (Medium).webp

Is there anyone in the states that has done this... besides TLC putting a fzj80 chasis and 60 body together for big $$$ That would be an awesome conversion, of course if money weren't an issue!!!

there was a writeup in TT not too long ago about putting 80 series axles under a 60 with the links.

You kinda have to know what you want out of the project tho...

The snow style links are great for what he does but would be horrible for rocks..

My reccomendation would be to read in the hardcore section about rear links and design one yourself. It really is not that hard..

This already sounds over my head  All I would be interested in is an expedition style/DD set-up...nothing too crazy I would imagine. Don't need more than the standard 2.5-3" of lift. I will check-out the hardcore sections thanks

stick with leaves.. they actually work pretty good..

cheaper too ;)
