I have a detached garage and there is a big pvc pipe running from my house to the garage that the power for the garage runs through. I would like to have cable on the tv in my garage. Can I run the coax cable through this pipe or is there going to be interference? I really don't want to run it along the fence. Any ideas? BLO

It violates electrical code to run low voltage (cable TV) and high voltage (120V) in the same conduit.

Plus it will probably pick up interference due to long parallel runs of cable.

Though if the shielding on the cable is good enough it might work. :-)

yep against code.. believe it or not but more wires will make it hot and possibly cuase a fire... I think code is 8 or 12 inches of seperation accept a an 90* intersection such ass in an attic.

get burial grade coax (has oily was stuff in it to repel water)and burry it, only has to be about 6" deep

If you need to bury it it may be worth it to pay the "cable guy" to come out and do the install. They have a machine that slices the ground and lays the cable at an appropriate depth without doing any noticable damage to the lawn. I wouldn't let them do the exit from the house or the entrance to the garage though. These guys just drill random holes and staple wire across the house regardless of the appearance.

This is just way way too easy to pay some one to come and do it..
