Looking for ideas on converting Toyota coaster to 4wd then to camper .
2-3 companies in aus perform these conversions regularly

My narrow brain
Thinks this
Rear axle switch to SAS
Then super singles

Atlas or np205 divorced
t-case, cable operated

Convert front end to leaf spring
Add Dana 70 front axle
Modify steering to fit
Add longer shocks and bump stops
Or sell all my tools and buy Mercedes sprinter REVEL

My brother and I want to do some epic cross country retirement fishing and were thinking about doing it in a 4x4 coaster. I love my 1HZ in my 77 and think it would make a great (albeit slow) but reliable option. Maybe one with a 1HD-T. I thought about exporting a low mileage one from Japan to bus4x4 for the conversion and shipping it to the states, but couple that with the 25 year rule and it becomes really expensive and time consuming.

Would any of those conversion companies ship a conversion as a preengineered and tested kit?

Here is what we would ultimately like to have, just haven't figured out how to get it to happen yet.

we had a 1hdt-powered coaster come through the shop last summer. It was partway through a homebrew rv conversion. I don't remember if it was 4wd. Super cool platform.

But if I were going to do something like this I'd be thinking hard about about a 4wd Hino.

I have an Isuzu npr similar to the hino. It was converted to 4x4 by a company in Florida. It’s been a pretty good truck. We use it in our landscaping business. It rides pretty rough with the leafs and sitting right over the front axle.
