Won't make the meeting tonight....dishwasher repair:frown:

I am making plywood sandwich board signs for Cruiser Days, one for out on the road and one for the parking lot. I'll send a pic when they are completed.

Is there any snow still up Kenyon way? I'd love to on a trip there, tried a few years ago and got lost, but found Twin Lakes instead, and Cypress Point.

I have a 55 frame and running gear with lots of body parts to fit that body :)

My guess is no snow based on the quick conversation I had with Drew. I didn't go up there myself though.

Yes, I think it would be a question of assessing what's there, if additional resources from MoTSA (?) are needed (eg fire rings or materials to build a table), site cleanup, and an easy going trip in the woods to lighten up the mood around here :flipoff2:.

Thanks Bill for helping to see the 'process' through to it's conclusion.

I occassionally do a search on craigshelper to see whats out there. I'm looking for a 91/92 FJ80 for my dad.

Didn't notice the 55 was as far from here as it is:
FJ55 Land Cruiser Body for Sale
No title though.

No title would make it a no go. It would be a long trailer trip too. Although I think Cruiserguy has experience trailering a 55 from that far away.

As for Kenyon, looks like a very nice little lake. Google Earth: N 49 24 03 W 122 14 33. Sharphooks: Kenyon Lake, Mission, British Columbia I'm looking forward to checking this lake out. There doesn't seem to be any road right down to the lake. Probably a good thing.

Edit: The Sharphooks map compass orientation is reversed. I found the lake access road - right to the water - on google earth. Also looks like the road will take you right down to Stave - if it isn't washed out.

Oh shayzen, I forgot what day it is, sorry for missing the meeting , going on a big trip, solo

Kim and I are thinking about going thisSunday to Kenyon.

It's looking like I could be free Sunday, no kids even! Greg and Justin were talking about the Chipmunk area, but I'd like to see Kenyon finally.

Well, thanks Rob for your, as well as Phil's and Kim's, contribution to the Stave Lake clean up project. I understand that 4 tons of scrap was taken out of there.

Next is the July 18 clean up of Eagle Ridge, there is an unbelievable amount of garbage up there, even construction waste and commercial garbage dumped inside the gates.

My Brother, Derek, and I have done extensive exploration in that area back when I lived in Whonnock. The lake access is pretty swampy, don't know if you would like to take a truck right to the lake, but the gravel stops pretty close though. The road around to the back side of the lake was a cool little trail, to a nice view (doesnt go anywhere). The road does not go right down to stave past Kenyon, it throws you up to the mountain over looking Stave, beatiful view, but no lake access. If you guys are exploring that area, make sure to turn down to the creek bed of the last big bridge you cross at before hitting Kenyon, you can drive along the rocks, cross the creek a few times and get to the end, there is a small water fall/rapids into pool, which is an awsome place to jump off the rocks and quickly swim through the freezing water (especially if its hot).

Cheers,

While looking for Kenyon Lake 4 or 5 years go, I stumbled upon what is known as Cypress Point, right on the eastern shore of Stave Lake. There was an easy road leading down to it, just had to squeeze past one large rock right at the entrance, which came out at sort of a parking area overlooking the camping area. It was a very short hike down the bank to the camp spot.
Sadly. there was a bridge one had to cross about halfway down the road, which has since been decommisioned, making driving down there impossible. One could hike, but not me.
It is one of the best camping spots I have found. There was room under the trees for perhaps 4 or 5 tents, all on a nice moss cushion, with a beautiful shallow beach (at last that time of year anyways) on the lake, and a roaring river on the other side.
I think there is some pictures posted on one of my flickr pages, and a write up I did buried in these pages somewhere.
It would be worth a look to see the bridge area, there was some talk about it getting replaced.

You Deny, jumping into pools, lakes, creeks... can't imagine. Did you get your truck close enough to jump off the roof rack

My 55 has a title tho John.... :)

Yep, still :hhmm: and dreaming about it. But I am afraid that the :princess: would not be too supportive, especially seeing I don't have one of the Safaris sold. Actually, I haven't done anything to the one in the garage except discover that a truck on jack stands provides all kinds of space for storing s*** both underneath and inside. :D
