Hey guys...Today I was trying to climb a mud hill and suddenly I hear a burst of air coming from inside the bumper. And when I go down to look I see this little (what looks to be) co2 tank. And cold air was coming out of it . It stopped leaking air a few minutes later.

Does anybody know what that is and the purpose of it is?

And if so, how much would that be to replace?

Sorry to throw so many questions at you all. But something else happened when i tried to climb that damn hill. Anti-freeze started to drip out. Would there be any connection to the two happening?

Thanks a lot.

Drivers side? That was your AC dryer and you now have no refrigerant in the system.

Yeah drivers side...Thanks a lot, put my mind at ease. Any idea on how much a new AC dryer rould run me?

It's not expensive. I bought a Taco one from CDan, it's shorter than the stock one. I tucked it up behind my bumper pretty nice. IIRC it was less than $40. You will have to get your AC recharged and leak tested also.

I think you should buy an ARB front bumper and then call Slee to get his AC Dryer skid plate! :p

Sorry to hear about the damage, but it's a price we pay to play.

How did you break that thing on a mud hill? Did it get twisted back or something?

Anyway, now that your system is empty you can take advantage of that to do a few things. Like change the old Orings, replace the old oil which it sounds like you lost some already (the "coolant" mentioned?) so they'll likely have to empty it to figure out how much to put in, put a new dryer in, tuck it out of the way, check for leaks etc. You can do much of that yourself pretty much, probably, even the vacuuming out and refilling.

If the "coolant" is not compressor oil actually, where did it come out from?

Definitely relocate it now. If I ever bust mine, I will move it.

It was more of a dirt hill. And as I went to climb over the top of it, it happened.

I will defiantly take advatage of the things you mentioned, great idea.

It was coming out from the front bumper, and it was dripping out onto one of the rectangular hole areas , and it was defiantly green.

well, if it's really coolant, that's better for the A/C. You can just leave the oil be in there if you didn't lose any.

OTOH, if it's coolant, that's not good. Gotta find out where it came from. Unless it's simply the overflow tank that was erroneously filled to the brim and just sloshed out. Otherwise there just should not be coolant coming out anywhere if all is fine. If it's a leak somewhere that could quickly prove disastrous.

The oil my AC system is green. I don't know if all AC system oil is the same color.

Check the lines leading into and out of the the AC dryer as well, when impact occurs to the cannister, it also sometimes crimps these lines to the point that they split open.

So could this be the cause of the spilt green liquid?

well, that's what I thought at first. One is oil, the other is water. What did it look like?

Are you even sure the coolant is green? Should be red.

Yeah Im positive it was green. And it was like an oil more than anything.
