It's just me but if I had the option that puppy would be on a trailer.
I think everyone is still misunderstanding him. Pretty sure what he's saying is that 'GPS says it is 4 hours'. He IS trailering his rig, therefore it will take him closer to 5 hours.

Time to attack one of the things I've been putting off. Not really a critical task, but don't feel ready to pull both diffs outta the rig tonight (only major task left). Gonna wait til I can pull them, complete my quick mods, and have back together in the same day.

Pic didn't attach for some reason.

Looks familiar. Both my front and rear ring gears had a broken tooth. Wierd thing was absolutely no hint of the rear having issues.

This diff had no apparent gear issues either - seriously. I took it out due to an issue with the air locker. It would not have lasted much longer with the stresses I put on them though. You can get away with single gear teeth missing or pieces of multiple teeth missing. When you end up with more than one whole tooth missing in a row on the ring gear or any single tooth on the pinion gear, then it's really time to replace. When you do only slow stuff like most of us do, the stresses are more easily dispersed to even the tiniest remnants of damaged gears. Like I said, this diff was stuff functioning when I pulled it out for an unrelated issue. Oh, and there is another section of teeth missing from the ring gear that cannot be seen here too.

YES! Only I know it's 4 hours due to driving it a couple weeks ago. We went to SLC to get a new dog.
Moab is only about 6 hours from my house.

What's everyone's plan for grub? Do y'all plan to eat out most nights?
I liked @4xsteve's idea of doing a BBQ.

I am bring the kitchen and a 20 x20 canopy. I know some of our group want to eat at camp to save a few bucks. I do group meals at many of our club rides so use to cooking for 10-20 people. Three in our group have 12 v refrigerators so we can make an occasional trip to City Market. I am not part of the 21 rd crew so you are on your own over there.

Tags for the rig in hand so that's just one less thing to do. As far as food, a little bit of everything is good by me. Eat out one night and throw burgers on the grill the next, whatever the situation calls for.

Thanks for reminding me on the tags, I've gotta get that done.
And I agree on the eats as well.

I have not planned anything in particular for meals besides suggesting a BBQ at least once. And by "BBQ", I don't mean burgers and dogs, I mean brisket and eye of round on the smoker! Have not confirmed if there is one available yet though. @woody, do you know? Burgers and dogs would be good as a "normal" dinner a few times for me though. I guess I just figure the first day that people are there we'll include making a basic menu for a few days worth and just pick restaurant days as we come off the trails. Then we'll revise the plan a few days later after we settle into a pattern.

I'll bring a gas grill if no one else is bringing one.

I was about to say "doesn't one live on the trailer", but then I remembered that you won't have the only trailer I've ever seen you with. :) My bet is that Danny will have at least a grill, but I hope there's a smoker too (not that I'm any great smoker cook though).

Finally found some REALLY good 21Rd pics!

21 road are these lines hard enough AJ?

Just posting to keep this handy for the GJ trip in case I want to reference local trails. Just in case any of the less hardcore group are interested, there are a few very scenic trails in the area... and the first 40-60% of 21Rd is doable by any of our rigs (and there are constant bail-outs/bypasses).

If there is a true smoker at Danny's, I've never seen it. I do have an 18" Smokey Mountain I could drag across and leave there for your visit and just pick up later :)

If it isn't too much trouble, that would be awesome. Thanks Woody!
@ajordan1975 - You ready??? :D

That should work just fine. GJ is only about 4 hours from me... not towing. Where do we plan to stay in GJ?
I'll be there the 10th at some point in time before noon.

What're the chances we can arm twist you (and anyone going to GJ) into driving out Fri night? Steve and I just talked and we're thinking it's best to hit the 21 Rd around 8:30 - 9:00 AM Saturday morning.

This should help get us ahead of most of the trail traffic, provides enough time to run the trail at our pace and maybe even run it again backwards. Then, assuming all goes well load up and shoot over to Billings (30-45 min. drive) before sun down Saturday evening.

I'm lazy when it comes to smoking. I have an electric smoker. Set the temp and make sure there's wood chips.
I'll be happy to bring it along.

Not good. I can leave early Saturday, but not Friday night. The old lady is already not happy w/ how long I'll be gone. The best I can probably do is leave here by 4 or 5 am.

Dang. We really do need to hit the trail around 08-09 time frame each day. If it's a nice weekend, I suspect both trails are going to be VERY busy. The first good bit of the trail has a dirt road next to it that could be used to catch up to us if you arrive after we go out if it comes to that.

Here's what I propose: Whoever is there Friday night will have our rigs ready to go at a moment's notice. This way, we can be ready to go at the first sign of other rigs starting to show up Saturday morning. But, with some luck, maybe we won't see anyone real early and can wait a bit longer to give others some more time to show up and start together.

Yet more options: Instead of rushing at all, you could take your time Saturday and just wheel up the trail until we run back into each other coming back down; You could drive around to the top and possibly meet up and wheel back down with us; You could meet us at Billing's Canyon on the south side of town that evening for the Sunday ride.
