Would there be any interest in separating classifieds into model specific to lighten the clutter? Also a section for general gear that would go with any series cruiser?
Just wondering about it, few times I either posted something or searched for stuff it seems the treads go into history pretty fast with new ones popping up constantly!

I think others would agree and go with it if it was a option.
Again, just a friendly suggestion from a happy supporting member! Take care

Ok, I meant the parts section, not vehicle.

I support this idea. I have to agree it can become a big PITA looking for something.

Agreed. It will be an equal PITA to reorganize (the Vehicle reorg took months of time, and I still catch problems)

I've been researching and waiting for a "good" classifieds system plugin for XF. A few have been created, none are well supported and none seem to clear the "beta" stages. I've got a couple possibilities that are in the works, but no guarantees they will be good solutions.

I know of one developer who has his own custom solution, and it might work....if he'll sell it. At this point, it's not looking promising, as he's invested a ridiculous amount of money into it, and doesn't want it "public" for others to mess with.

The challenge with Toyota stuff comes in with all those items that are cross-model...a 9.5" rear diff can work from the early 60s thru the late 90's, and across a dozen models. Having a solution that allows a seller to "tag" the item with a "what it fits" option would be ideal.

I recently consulted with the developer for Cruiserfieds and have a great deal of ideas from that process.

FINALLY...yes, there's more....XF v2.0 is coming in 2017. A major forum software update, big enough that any investments in the current 1.5 version would need to start fresh with the 2.0 release. If I'm going to invest in a solution, I'd prefer to only do it once :)

I'll jump in;
I don't mind the parts being lumped together in one thread, makes for quick scanning if you keep up with it....
I do like that this forum software at least shows the for sale/wanted/trade tags.

I just wish it was mandatory to put state/location in the title.

Looking forward to 2.0 Woody, glad you have a plan.

Great! I guess I'm satisfied with the idea of you brainstorming new avenues to make it better!

I do know there are a bunch of stuff that can model cross. The tagging with be helpful on those situations for sure!
That being said, if I'm looking for 100 series coils I wouldn't be clicking on the 40/45 part section or looking for a 40 dash pad in the expedition/camp gear section! You get the point I'm sure!

Best of luck on the new update! Take care.

Might do a "short" term...hmmm...

For Sale - Axle/Suspension
For Sale - Engine/Transmission/Transfer Case
For Sale - Body/Exterior
For Sale - Armor/Bumpers

thoughts?

At least that narrows things somewhat....

That's the way other forums are setup.

Why not make a classifed section at the top of each vehicle tech forum. Seems like we're chasing classifieds out those sections pretty regularly because it kind of makes sense to post parts in a vehicle specific section.

A separate classifieds tab keeps a future classifieds system FAR easier to create.

Plus, if memberX is selling an H55, it could fit a 40/55/60/62/70/etc...so do they post it 5x?

pass.

My 2 cents. I'm not a fan of the new classified segmentation. Now instead of looking at one forum, I have to click through all of the sub-forums. Maybe I'm odd, but I like to keep up with classified postings and check it multiple time daily for interesting deals. It was easy to keep up with before. And if I needed something specific, search was always my friend. Guess that will function will still work in the new format if the parent/child feature is working (I haven't tried it).

I'm unsure on the setup as well...seemed good on paper, not so much on implementation.

Model specific will turn into a cross-posting nightmare.

I'm of the same leaning. I like to scroll through everything that's for sale and see what's of use to me, regardless of what series it came out of or whether it's drivetrain, body or ...........

@woody - what if you organized it like the Vehicle classifieds are now? You have the sub-segments up top and then if you scroll to the bottom, everything is together. Might be the best of both worlds. By sub-segments I mean the one's you are using now. I agree by model specific would be a nightmare. As always, appreciate everything you do for the community.

I like the change in classifieds separating parts. One suggestion, posters be asked to place location in the thread title. This doesnt apply to parts so much except for large items like bumpers or engines, but mainly vehicles. That will make it much easier for those looking within their personal search radius. For me, clicking ads for things on the west coast is a waste of time if it doesnt fit in the mail.

Asking and complying are completely different :) That IS in the "guidelines" for posting threads....which most don't read anyways.
