I'm getting ready to replace the clutch in my 82 FJ 60 . Any particular brand you guys recommend ?

Buy everything from Toyota if you want the clutch to outlive the vehicle.

As oss said, factory Toyota or Aisin which can be purchased from City Racer. No affiliation, just a happy customer. Someone here who is more knowledgeable can hopefully chime in if Aisin is OEM. Also, I’d recommend resurfacing the flywheel and replacing the flywheel and pressure plate bolts. Both are cheap and easy to do while you’re in there.

Cheers, James

I suggest to also replace the input shaft seal in the transmission, easy peasy.:)

AISIN CKT032 kit LINK is the Toyota OEM Good price on RockAuto and the same as you would receive from the dealer.

However, both the Throw out bearing and the Pilot bearing are not available aftermarket and the Toyota-boxed ones are far more robust than the ones in the kit. Buy those from Toyota, as well as the RMS

I have used my clutch for 100k kilometers and waiting to replace but no sign it is going , anyway I have read that the clutch orientation in the manual can be wrong so remove and check/picture it?, the nipple! always
But seems different model in pictures below? Just check.

That pic above is not correct for the 2F (it may be for H engine, dunno).

For the 2F the 'SNOUT' (#2) on the clutch disc must face the engine. Ask me how I know!

Otherwise, when you depress the clutch, the disc will not release against the flywheel.

Also, IMPORTANT to test-fit the pilot bearing on the tip of the Transmission Input Shaft. It should slide on/off with little effort. If it's too tight, it will bind when installing (trying to stab) the transmission.

If the pilot bearing is too tight, use a little Emory cloth on the tip of the shaft until the bearing slips on easily.
