clutch master

So my 84 Bj60 developed a leak at the flange on the clutch master. It was about half a reservoir a day leak. The clutch master has the vacuum boost.
I decided to pull it apart and clean it. So I unbolted it and pulled out the piston. Washed it all in brake cleaner and re-assembled, with the seals lubricated. I re-filled the reservoir and have driven it for the day. It seems to be holding the fluid. Even before and during the leak it worked fine..... you think I lucked out with the clean job? It was extremely dirty. I also used some scotch brite in the bore as it had some rusty goop at the end.

Anybody have luck just cleaning them to solve a leak? The seals still looked fine....

I cleaned mine out and it worked for awhile. Then it blew out and I had to drive home by matching the RPMS to shift and start it in 1st gear at the lights.

too funny stepped on clutch yesterday in my 82 60 and was greated with a foot full of oil. no cleaning of seals here, did a little speed shifting and after having been schooled on starting in gear at a stop sign i made it home, repplaed the master with an OEM today. a clutch is kinda nice you know

Same deal last week. Was at a light and the truck started creeping forward. Had fluid all over the floor. The PO had "cleaned" the clutch master a few weeks earlier. Mine was a resivoir-an-hour leak. It dripped when sitting and sprayed when depressed. I went through a whole bottle of fluid just trying to finish running errands.
