Is there a difference in the bolt holes on the clutch inspection cover from a 1976 FJ55 and a 1983 FJ60?

I had a 2F out of a 1983 FJ60 rebuilt and am just about ready to drop it into my 1976 FJ55 - and the darn bolt holes don't line up! :o

There are 5 larger bolt holes on the bottom and 2 smaller bolt holes on the front side. Only 3 of 5 of the larger, bottom bolt holes line up. The two that don't line up seem to be reversed from the opposite side. The 2 smaller bolt holes just barely don't line up. That, and there are pretty big gaps between the clutch inspection cover and the bellhousing.

This is the next to the last thing I have to do before I drop this motor back in. What gives?!!?!?

The early '76 had a 2 piece cover and yes the are different........

You are correct - I was able to dig out a two piece inspection cover. Apparently I put the 76 bell housing on and had the 83 clutch inspection cover. I'm cleaning up the 2 piece now to paint and install.

Thanks!
