My dad and brother were pulling off the slave cylinder/soft line and broke off the end of the hard line. We are looking at options to get it back together. So far what I have thought of is find a shop to repair the hard line, buy new hardline(not sure if it even available) and the local parts store(O'reilley I think) has told them that they have steel braided line that will replace the hard line for $50. Any other options that I have missed? The cruiser/dad and brother are in the states. Thanks for the help.

hard line

You could just replace the hard line with nickel copper brake line and flare the ends using new fittings.
If you do not have a flare tool then I would just replace the entire line with the braided one.
The cost of the flare tool plus the brake line/fittings would be greater than $50.

You might be able to find a used line in the parting out section that would be the cheapest.

Spector off road has the hard tube for the 85+ but shows that this part is discontinued for the earlier years FJ60. They are usually a good indicator whether this part is available from toyota. But it doesn't hurt to check with your local dealer.

Your local parts store should also have a straight hard line that could be bent to replace your broken one. If you can remove your old one, you can use that as a template for the new one. IIRC, when I replaced mine the most difficult part was getting at the mounting clips on the firewall behind the engine.

There might be an aftermarket solution. Classic Tube has a clutch hydraulic line for an '84 but it might really be for the FJ40. It's expensive ($90 for steel). Toyota sold these things for $15 when they had them.

Thanks for the suggestions. I am trying to keep this simple since I am not the one working on the cruiser this time and I am pretty sure they don't have a flair tool or a pipe bender.

Im looking to get one of these soon...sounds like a nice replacement/setup.

Or just get the Braided Stainless Steel Line from SOR
