Ok, did a search on this and came up with very little. The FSM doesn't give any specs on adjusting the pushrod on the release cylinder.

I just replaced the clutch and it seems to be engaging rather far up the pedal. Pedal travel is adjusted properly acc. to FSM. When I release the pedal the clutch is engaging near the top end of the pedal stroke. Is there a norm for where it should engage? Seems it engaged earlier with the old clutch. The gears all shift fine and it runs well. Just wondering if this is right.

anyone care to comment?

mine is abut the same felt realy high for such an old vehical. i like it, i can shif with my heal on the mat

i have the same issue, old clutch was pretty far down, new one engages WAY out... I have the later style slave w/o pushrod adjustment... thinking about getting an earlier style when i do my vortec swap over the next weeks/months

Barry-

Didn't you just put in a new clutch? I noticed the same change when I replaced mine not too long ago. I think it's normal.

i think its only supposed to grab in the last 1" or so.

Mine grabs in the last inch of travel as well. Kind of weird. And I'm always wondering if the drivetrain is fully engaged...but I've never had the clutch slip on me, so I'll just have to get used to it being "normal".

Mine does the same thing . I just figured it was about time for a new clutch.

My clutch only has 4 or 5 thousand miles on it and I lets out almost at the top. Doesnt make for the smothest shifting sometimes.

Ours dosent fully enguage until let out completely and doesn't completely release until depressed all the way.

Consensus on the release point seem to be near the top.

I adjusted the push rod on the master cylinder and bled the system thoroughly. Now it's holding marvelously. Can't quite figure out how air got in the system. We didn't open the hydraulic system when we replaced the clutch. I expected to have to adjust the pushrods to accomodate the fresh clutch. Wondering how air gets into the cylinders.
