Just returned from a 800km dirt road trip to the coldest town (or is it now the second coldest town) in ZA, Sutherland. It turned out that it was not that cold with the coldest night been -2 degrees C, but I digress.

Whilest driving on the dirt road I could hear a distrint kwa-dunk sound coming from the right front when driving over any unevenness in the road like a pothole etc. It feels as if the sound gets generated when the one wheel suddenly moves down/up. Should both wheels move down or up at the same time on a level surface (like going through a dip) then there is no sound.

When driving on the even tar roads there are no sounds unless I go thought a pot hole etc.

My thinking is perhaps swaybar bushings? Any comments?

I think you should check your 4 upper and lower shock bushings on that side and make sure they are in tact and tight and that the shock is not moving. If it is the swaybar bushings, you should be able to detect that visually.

I have a problem like that but mine is the cheap Mr Gasket spacer that is making the spring hit the side of the frame!!!

Thanks

I will have the shock bushing checked out first.

Some update.

Found the right top bushing to be a bit loose and the bottom left bushing to be a bit loose.

Many thanks for the advise.
