You guys know I am in. Will drive out and trailer back. That way won't have to worry about catastrophic failure leaving me stranded. Although we all know that 80's never break---------and all those dents will buff out. Will need a passenger to share driving duties. I'll cover fuel costs..........just drive.

Norm - Look up the "Hurrah Pass Trail" when you get the chance. 50mi of mellow canyon travel. Maze district views, river access, mild obsticles (1 locker), and great BLM expedition road. Dumps out from Moab start point to Canyonlands National Park. Elephant Hill is very close at that point. Bring lot's of extra fuel.. Props to Rob on that... Anyone can PM me if you have any questions.

Hey folks Dad & I are talking about making this trip after attending the LSLC Round Up. I know driving a 40 across the US..... but dam with dad-what great memories.

On a side note: wife & I honeymooned in Moab in 05.

We attended Cruise Moab..... we ran Porcupine Rim, Kane Creek, & Elephant Hill.

Kane Creek great trail, Elephant Hill-WOW not difficult but GREAT views.

The slick rock camp ground is a good camp ground, best part being they don't care if you break that you work on your rig....... from what I have heard that what makes them a repeat facility for Cruise Moab. Many of the other camp grounds don't really allow/want you to wrench on your junk should you break.

Looking forward to wheeling with yawl again.

A few pics to get those wheeling thoughts flowing:idea:
-Wife on Kane Creek ledge.....the view to the left is BAD
-Looking back on the switch backs on Elephant Hill trail
-view from one of the hikes on Elephant Hill trail

Good observation Rob - wherever we stay it will be an epic trip. But I'm also confident there will be no mechanicals including Cam - but prepare for the worst. As far as trip planning goes I picked up "Guide to Moab, UT Backroads & 4-Wheel Drive Trails (2nd Edition)." From what I've read it's supposed to give pretty good gouge about the trails there including color coded trails for sissies like me. Link below and I'll bring it to the JAN 09 meeting for reference. It's going to be a pretty impressive ride.

Guide to Moab, UT Backroads & 4-Wheel Drive Trails (2nd Edition) [978-1-934838-00-6] - $27.95

Bloo I ordered mine yesterday. I got the spiral bound version. BTW they have them on sale right now 25% off . I had a copy of the 1st edition, very good book. Great discription of trails and how to get to them.

Hey Guys! I just got off the phone with the Big Horn Lodge. This is what I worked out:

-$69.95 per night plus taxes
- you must use the name BBRC when making reservation
- Phone number is 1.800.325.6171
-please try to book this soon, they have rooms that are filling up toward the weekend we are leaving.
-I asked for the rooms to be close by so we are all in one spot (use my name Rob Matzell)
** for those camping you are on your own for booking your spots

I am planning on staying from the 22nd and possibly checking out on the 28th early or later in the day on the 27th. She is willing to let me do 1/2 day on friday to come back and shower before I hit the road. If anyone else wants to come back and shower before they leave this will be open to those staying at the lodge as well.

Thanks Rob

Sure you have the 55 done....

....I'll bet you've just p-chopped it....

Lance and the rest of the boys,

I relocated out here about the same time as Ben and his collection.

Sold the 62 - but I got back into dirt bikes. I am definately coming out to watch and loan bikes to anyone who wants to try two wheels.

Can't wait to see all of you.

Hmm, if only I could teleport my truck to Moab... I don't think I could take that drive in my 40. Maybe I will hit the lottery and get a tow rig before March, if not you all have a great trip!
