We discussed the idea of a club "HAM" channel - instead of the CB channel of the day of the month, the club would run a fixed channel.
Nor Cal 80's and the Rising Sun both use 146.460. 146.460 is also the "NASA" Channel for Utah and it is one of the national "simplex" frequencies.
We could also use 146.460, but considering the proximity of the 80's group to us, we might want a different channel.
Is there any preference? I would suggest using the 2M band (141.100 - 148.000). According to ARRL, the national simplex frequencies are:
146.400, 146.415, 146.430, 146.445, 146.460, 146.475, 146.490, 146.505, 146.535, 146.550, 146.565, 146.580, 146.595, 147.405, 147.420, 147.435, 147.450, 147.465, 147.480, 147.495, 147.510, 147.525, 147.540, 147.555, 147.570, 147.585
146.52 is the national default channel for 2M. Some say that 146.550 is a "storm chaser" frequency. Many recommend using the 30 khz spacing, rather than 15, and then refer to the channel without the final "0" so that would leave
146.40, 146.43, 146.46, 146.49, 146.55, 146.58, 147.42, 147.45, 147.48, 147.51, 147.54, 147.57
146.40 has the obvious land cruiser reference (40). I don't think there are a lot of storm chasers out here, so 146.55 would be another.
Any other thoughts?
