Anyone have a cb they would donate towards UC to be used as a portable unit. I could fab up a little box with a speaker and a portable antenna to be used at the base camp. With a little power supply it could be used on 120 as well as 12v. Would be nice if we had something that is always on and make a good form of long range communication.

I can think of at least a half a dozen time where this would have come in handy.

Anyone have one laying around?

I have a handheld CB that also accepts dc from an adapter. (don't have the adapter)
I just checked it with my newer handheld CB and it works fine.
It takes 10 AA batteries. LOL I can't believe I had 10 extras lying around. :grinpimp:
It has a speaker and long range antenna. Ya'll are welcome to borrow it
it for the trip but I'd need it back at some point down the road. I like having two
handhelds as well as a truck unit.

Breaker, breaker....this is UC....anybody got yer ears on?
10-4 good buddy.

i know nothing about cbs but may father-in-law has semi trucks and i know we have those laying around. will that do.

Wouldn't GMRS be better for this Marshall? GMRS is real easy to buy, now integrated into most 2-way FRS radios, and has a range of 14 miles which is way better than CB w/out a major power boost. This would be easier to buy for everyone in UC too. Another option would be 2m or HAM, but that's more expen$ive, requires a license and I'm not even sure anyone in UC has one. GMRS does supposedly require a license, but it's free and easy to get online. Few ppl really know or even bother though. Just my .02 Good idea though!

I'll ask the fam, last time I heard, they had several sitting around...

Marshal, I'll bring a old one this weekend....no antenna
