Ok, so I have my 5 wire M101 trailer plugged into my 5 wire 40 ...the brake lights work, left signal works, right signal works, running lights work...whew all ok right? NOT

try to do two at the same time...and it's an amazing lightshow..every bulb blinks, some dim, some bright, some blink with the others, some blink when the others are out....

I'm thinking bad ground on the truck somewhere...

How do you even try to find it? Pull fuses with the light show going until it stops? Ahhhhhh HELP ME!!!

So after some more investigating....with the tyrailer physically not hookied up or touching the truck...I can unhook the ground wire in the plug..and all the lights still work...so they are getting grounded and powered thru the same circuit??

It sounds like the trailer lights might be grounding out to the trailer. How did you wire up the lights using 5 wires? Do you have more then 1 feed to the same bulb?

Hey! I'm down your way this weekend, with the truck and trailer...

the trailer has separate bulbs for running lights, brake and turn signals...so 5 wires, just like the truck...

It's somewhere in the truck, I ran a ground wire from the trailer straight to the neg on the battery, and it all worked, so I ran a wire from the trailer to a good ground at a terminal block under the hood...it works now, but I must have abad ground somewhere on the truck....

Thats strange, but atleast its working. When are you going to be around Guelph? I'm going to be around off and on all weekend.
