I haven’t seen this brought up before and I thought that I’d share my experience. Sorry if it is old news.

I started up the LX the other day only to see the “traction control disabled” message on the dash. Being a good Mudder I went to the gas cap and sure enough it was loose. Tightened cap and charged the laptop battery (this is the only use for a laptop nowadays) and dug up the ODB2 cable.
I tried to get the programs updated and connect the Techstream to the truck but was unable to hold my mouth just right and because I’m running emulation on my Mac I wasn’t holding out hope. The next day I tried again unsuccessfully and called my local Toyota dealer who asked how long it had been. They then told me to wait another day or two because it should reset itself after 2 or 3 days. Sure enough it cleared itself which was a revelation to me. I was unaware that this was a thing and thought that I should share before someone else paid to clear this code.

IIRC it's 30 drive cycles for the check engine to clear if its just the gas cap

I’d wager you can clear it with a cheap OBDII reader from any auto parts store or Harbor freight.
