Myself and about 15 others will be venturing up to Clear Creek for some 4x, motorcycle and target shooting. There will be good food and beer and the typical shenanigans.

Good times. We will be camped at the big turnout about 5 miles up the hill from New Idria.

Any and all of you interested in the fun are welcome to join.

For those of you who have never been to Clear Creek, it is a must.

We will be up there about 9pm tomorrow evening (Friday).

Let me know if anyone will be heading up.

Skillet, sounds fun wish I could make it.Never been there,I don't know if it's the best place for little kids(guns, mines, abesteos!)
I have to work this weekend,I am trying to make up for all those rain days I missed work(house payment=stressing) it sucks being a carpenter sometimes!
Lets get together&drink a beer soon, mybe do some wrenching on the rigs.I need to do a tune-up.

Have fun & post up some pics.

John

Hey John,

You are correct, not for kids up there. Not so concerned about the asbestos, it is pretty wet up there, but the mine shafts would freak me out if I were a parent.

This rain has been a killer for my friends who are in the construction industry, for sure.

We will get together soon. I need to regear my 80, I will let you do it if you want and I can supervise. :D

eh, been wondering about the trades. What's the normal deal when you're working outside for a contractor and it rains or they're waiting for some material that doesn't show up? You don't work and don't get paid? That always the case? Or only for weather?

Sometimes you can get inside work, thats nice in the winter. But mostly it's framing outside. We are building a school in San Jose,I am a Union carpenter. You could drive 45-1hr.to work and not get paid cause it's raining, they send you home-it sucks. So we watch the weather& just stay home sometimes. No work no pay.
We do get a vacation check each year for like 3grand,but that goes quick when missing lots of work.We have been sent home cause it's too muddy to run the forklifts, even when it's not raining! Huge mud pit to drive the gradeall through(big 4WD lift)with like 4' high tires.

Hey skillet,I need to regear also,I have been towing a 3000lb. off road tent trailer.New gears would be nice!
You can do my gears also! But I don't have the $$ to do it yet!

just stay out of my mercury caves, behind the top of cinnabar hill I built a hideout, if you find it, you can help yourself to the booze, the beans are probably gross by now - dont forget the quicksilver mine is really cool inside - I recommend north quicksilver trail backwards especially if it rains

Pics from the weekend.

Here are some of the shenanigans...

its a nice ride up cinnabar hill - I see the mine is still standing - but did you find my cave with the booze? judging from the manhole you guys explored, you were close - did you guys go into the little shed down by the mercury lake? its super sketchy to drive around to it over the big ruts

I'll bet it sucked without me there drinking your beer and eating your food, eh?

Toyoda-san does not stand for galavanting around the countryside whilst one's '40 is not mechanically perfect. All is well now, with mine, at least. Wanna go again?

PMC is going to Pillsbury this Saturday too...

We did not find and / or drink your booze. We did not need it, trust me.

That whole ******* area is sketchy, that is why we go.

My buddy backed his Ford off of a small cliff and we spent the better part of the evening getting him out.

We had tears in our beers over your absence. Wish I could go back up this weekend but I will be in Idaho on the Snake river fishing. Damn.

Let's set it up for another weekend. Bring that kid of yours and he can throw skeet for us all day. ;)

I wish I could have gone...

I'll be rig less for a month or two..

I love Clear Creek shenanigans. So jealous...:beer:

I am going next time. I have to show you guys how to make a CIA bunker buster. Best demonstrated in the desolate regions of Clear Creek. I once spent 4 days stuck out there alone. I like going to places like Idria by myself and then have distributor failure. i lived in the greyhound station shed for 2 days until sombody drove me to Coalinga and I got a needle. All I had for the 4 days there is beer sunflower seeds and my 300 mag with 400 rounds. Good times. Then there was another time and another hence its called Cripple Creek. But I love the place and my heart was bleeding that I did not go but I told the GF I would stay home and help clean her lizard tanks.

roughly an hour south of Hollister off hwy 25

That looks like fun.

Where is that at "roughly"?

About 38 miles SE of Hollister, CA as the crow flies.

You can also access the other side from King City.

Takes a while to get there as the roads are questionable.

Surrounding BLM includes Tumey and Panoche hills.

Very cool area.

The boys are going back up on Friday. I will miss this trip.

Damnit! I hate it when i miss the opprotunity for Shenanigans! Arggg!

Nice trip Jeb! I will make it up there some day!
