Cleaning the air filter for the a/c blower

Anybody ever clean this thing? Do I need to remove the glove box to get to it. The PO had a long haired dog so I am sure this thing is filthy. I tried removing the blower motor but could not get the filter element loose.

As far as I know there is NO filter in the A/C system of a '60 series. I've had my whole system apart from the fan motor to the dash vents and there wasn't one there.

however, crap can build up around the condenser - but you'd almost have to take both of the hoses leading through the firewall off (and releasing you freon - bad) to get it all cleaned out. Seems like maybe, with a little finess, you could drop the plastic housing for it and hit it with compressed air and a shop vac. I had to take mine apart and it was full of leaves, dirt, other people's hair and other nasty crap. (maybe if I ever get it put back together right it'll work great!)
