Tyson's is such a mess these days, too bad, we had meetings there with consistent big turnouts, I think because of the proximity to MD and DC with the troll rd.

We used to meet at Kilroy's as well and had decent turn outs there as well.

With traffic in general, maybe a Sunday morning breakfast thing would work. Anita's in Vienna has a large private room that the Porsche 356 Potomac Owners Group uses one Sunday a month. There is a large parking lot next door as well...just an idea. They get people coming in from WV, PA, MD, DE, Etc for a late 10:30 breakfast that would otherwise not drive in because of traffic. In fact, the guy who organizes it drives in from Martinsburg every month.

No traffic on Sunday mornings...

Did you buy that 71? I've owned a half dozen 71/72's and like those years as they are the newest FJ40's with no smog gear.

Sunday B-fast works for me as well. You know I prefer the Tyson's/McLean area but as you said, the construction is a pain.

I'm going down on Friday to look it over and if all goes well I will be bringing it back with me. I'm trying to arrange for a trailer. If I can't find one, I'll have to rent a Budget truck and trailer (they won't let me use their trailer behind my 4Runner, even if I move several hundred pounds of parts into the truck so I meet the 80% rule).

I love the idea. Tyson's area is much more convenient I think, and weekday or weekend would be great.

Thanks for coming everyone! I think I counted 18 of us at one point in the afternoon.

Ed and I talked about having a social meeting every first Tuesday of the month at someplace like Kilroys (Braddock and I-495). Not sure if that location is central enough but it certainly would be easier to get to than Jack Taylor Toyota. Tyson's is such a zoo with Hot lane and Metrorail construction I think we best steer clear of that area (even though I work there, I wouldn't wish that traffic on my worst enenmy). There's also a decent Irish pub somewhere off River Road in MD too.

Any thoughts? Anyone?

Penske in Merryfield is great to deal with and I've seen some trailers parked at Uhual in Fairfax as well as some of their other locations.

Rent the truck and trailer, park the truck at your house to avoid paying mileage and just use the trailer...only downside in their insurance only covers the use of the truck and trailer together.

I've moved many a cruiser with tow dolly but also almost got killed by one. Make sure you get the tongue weight right. Steve M. and I towed a parts truck home with a tow dolly from WV about a year ago with his 100 series no problem.
