Currently talking to this guy. Was looking to get into a rolling project 60 to learn to wrench but this is also tempting.

Are you close?
I'm about 3 hours away. I'm gonna spring for it of he can come waaaay down on price. Looks to be in rough shape. Unless one of you guys steals it away from me with your big bucks.

Also how hard do you think it is to find parts for this???

Not hard, if you're good at hunting pink unicorns on fire breathing dragons...

In all seriousness though, if I end up picking this up to learn to wrench, how hard to find parts and how easy/hard to work on. I'm a 0

In preface, the last thing is ever want to do is discourage someone from becoming infected with swine flu, because it's an enjoyable disease, but a disease, nonetheless.

I am not bragging, period, just laying out my experiences.

It'll take 2-2 1/2 Pig carcasses to complete a solid body shell, at least, in my experience.

There are no parts available for these through normal channels. Yes, some are still out there, but they're not easy finds.

I'm approaching the end of year one restoring one rotted carcass to an acceptable level, and that's utilizing professional resources, and has taken 3 pigs to do, so far.

Approaching the six month mark on mechanical rehabilitation/upgrades to a '76, including fully rebuilding the 2F, at the hands of a foremost authority on all things TLC.

My point is this.

If your first endeavor with mechanical or body restoration/rehabilitation and financial resources don't allow, pick a different platform or find a more complete Pig that's priced higher.

At the very least, if you buy it, don't jump directly off the cliff into restoring, but utilize the vast knowledge base in the 'Sty, to get it safely drive-able, then determine the next step.

Thanks for the insight. So here's where I stand. I have an 80 now and want to get a second car to learn to work on. I'm looking for a rolling project. This one here looks like it runs but has a few issues. I'll need to get more information from him. I want to learn to tinker, but dont want to do it on my DD.

I don't know if "restore" is the right word for what I'm looking to do here. More looking to tinker and learn how to do s***. I'm looking to get into the truck for about $1,000-$1200, which after talking to this guy, may be doable.

Basically I want a truck I can tinker with and drive sparingly if i'm tinkering with my DD. I like learning to do s*** on my own and I'm somewhat resourceful. I'm not looking to get this thing into 100% factory restored condition to flip it, which is why I'm OK with buying a semi-junker for cheap. Low risk.

I hear you, man.

My honest opinion is that it's not worth much more than your stated budget.

It's had "body work" done already, so, change are, it's a rotten carcass.

My two cents....and Saturday they're worth half price.
