Scaling is off

I think the picture is misleading or not to scale. There is a much bigger difference between the front frame horns than shown on the picture.
Scaling is off. I kept the proportions and scaled it so the spring perches were above the axle line.

I just went to my 100 to measure the rearmost body mounts (Letters J,j). On the 80 specs, it is listed as 1,270mm wide (or 50"). On my actual 100, it's at 53"

I also measured from body mount "g" to "j", the 80 spec says 56.3", and came up with 57.25" on the 100.

Given one measurement was off by 1" and the other by 3", apparently one of the drawings had it proportions off, most likely the 100 series drawing. Oh well, so much for that bolt-on 105 conversion.

OK, so what's the final verdict?

does the 105 use the 100 frame and modified 80 axles?
or
an 80 frame with modfied 100 body mounts?

Thanks, the truck is totally streetable. In fact we drove it back and forth to Moab and it is my daily driver now. Has a little shimmy at 50mph, but that is tires (confirmed yesterday when I had to put 31's on it for emmisions).

I think 4/5" of lift with 35/16" tires will be the ticket.

Go for it. You will not look back :D

Mr. Slee: What are the odds you could SAS my current 100, do a 5.29 (or 4.88 if 5.29 isn't possible) regear, add a suspension lift of about 5-inches (medium or so) AND.......tweak it so there's VERY little vibration?
If sucessful on your end, I will add 36 or preferably 37's, cut metal to fit, and fab new mini bumpers for clearance.

My thought is to buy a like-new 06 or a new 07 and swap all my bumpers and crap (sorry :D) from my 01 onto the new 06/07 and paint match. I'd use the 06/07 like I have used my 2001 and run the 01 as a dedicated rig. When complete my LX450 would go bye-bye.

It can all be done, just takes $'s.

Right now it is stalled. We have other projects in the works and are getting ready to UA. Busy putting the cage in the truck etc etc. Leaving on Jul 6th.

John, you can just buy this truck when I am done with it after this trip. I will offer to you first before it goes on Ebay :D

hows the production model bumper coming?

so..............................................................Whats the good word on the bumper Slee?

Actually had another measuring session on Friday and we are starting on the redesign to fit a normal truck. Not sure on time frame to production, but we are going ahead with this. Going from first concept to production normally takes some time and we have to change some thing visually and some technically to make it work on a truck with complete fenders.

good to hear Christo. Would you say the front bumper is harder to design then the rear was or equal? I would assume designing it to accept the winch creates certain design needs unlike the rear bumper.

Actually they are about the same. The front bumpers are more difficult in terms of strength since the wings are not supported. Dealing with different winches and where to stick lights, solenoid boxes etc etc is also an issue.

Ok, so I am a bit confused.. is the front bumper up next, or I thought there was talk of a slightly modular rear, with dual pivots? Personally, I am interested in a rear with a pivot, that I can add the tire swing out later. I want the protection now, but not ready for a rear tire carrier.

X2...

Any top secret classified pics availabe? Word on the street is you're our inside man.

If the builder posts pics they are no longer "spy pics" or "top secret" right?

That is unless the builder is a bipolar schizophrenic, then any photos of the build could still be classified as 'spied'.
