We talked about a Tree run at the meeting and on the Jumbo Run.
The date we kicked around was Dec 4th.

At the meeting we decided to organize the run here on the forum. Based on the Snow thread there is some interest.

Edit:

Leave Time;
10:00am

Location;
Hallelujah Junction

Tree cutting permits are available at the gas station, show up early if you want a permit there is usually a line.

I'm good with it, but we would need to start a little later, maybe around 10:00am? I will be driving back from Winnemucca that morning.

Are we thinking above Davis Lake area, like in years past? There may actually be some snow on this years tree run. :bounce:

My parents have a house at lake Davis, and they said there's a lot of snow at the house. Should be a fun day, wish I could make it, but then again my truck, snow, and trees haven't been a good combo lately.:lol:

So still the 4th?
Leave time?

We may or may not make it, we have plans to go with my sister the following day. We might use the Club run to scout and see if the BIL's Ford is up to the run.

You should set it up to ride with SpressoDan. We may be a little late getting back, so we may or may not make it. If we do, its going to be in the Ford.:eek:

I think 10:00am at Hallelujah Junction on December 4th is the general consensus.

Duly noted in the OP.

Stupid question, is this run a go?
Probably, these guys are animals when it comes to snow runs.

I'm bailing because we will be going the next day with my Sister and BIL, I'm not a big enough fan of snow to do back to back trips.

I'm hoping of joining you all, hoping my wife and dog will come along.

Any idea on the how extreme the trail will be? If too extreme, I might come alone and take up primer7's offer to ride shotgun (if still available).

Looking forward to playing with my new HT. APRS is cool.

I'm assuming we should bring a brown bag lunch...

You should be fine, we once took an AWD Chevy Astro van on a tree run into the same area. They are just regular dirt roads, the snow is what makes them a challenge. If it is deep, then challenge goes up.

Yes on a lunch of some flavor. Your wife is more than welcome, most everyone else brings theirs. If we make it back to Reno in time, my wife and I will be there.

My 2m radio went with my LC, so I won't have a radio to speak of. Wonder if we should plan on having the CB's or those little family radio walkie-talkies as a way for everyone to be able to talk? I know there will still be some 2m in operation, I just won't have one.

Just bring some winter clothing, boots, tools, someway to air down and back up and a tow strap with suitable attachment points on your vehicle.

Hoping we can make it.

Jack

Ive run my stock 80 up there several times there is a few places if we go that route but not sure we gonna try to make the top of crystal peak or not but im pretty sure my stock 80 would make it anyway if that gives you any idea of how this area is. my :princess: will be commin as well :cheers::steer::bounce2:

I have a CB in my rig as well.

Since last time I was out last (no off-road gear to speak of), I've managed to pick up a few things... including compressor, snatch strap, and some shackles. But the deflators I wanted (the cheapies) were temporarily out of stock. So I'll need to borrow again from some kind soul here.

FYI: I just bought a couple sets of these for my hunting buddies that after seeing mine had to have a set or two ;).

Even with shipping they're cheaper than anyplace else I could find:

Sun Performance QuickAIR Deflator

Maybe you should pick up a cheap Chinese HT. An HT would be good to have for spotting and such later.
