Chinese bumpers?

I'm curious about the quality of these bumpers. I've seen some gun safes and other products from China with some questionable welding, which makes me hesitant.

I've read that iron man bumpers are Chinese. Haven't verified that, but the website says "designed and engineered in Australia" whereas ARB says "built in".

No longer a concern for me though, as I just purchased a hundy!:bounce: I do hope that the aftermarket picks up for this market though.

Iron Man is built in Australia. ARB is the one that moved fab to China for most parts.

That's good to know. Any idea on when that shift happened?

ARB moved a few years ago for some parts (mostly bumper welding, etc). I think they still make certain things in Australia.

I honestly doubt it's an issue. I've heard that Chinese factories will build to whatever spec you desire, cheap and flimsy, or rugged and reliable. Just depends on what price point the vendor is looking for. A lot of optics are shifting from Japan to China these days and quality varies according to price.

That being said, I try to avoid buying Chinese.

I heard ARB has had issues with powder/rust issues in the last few years though.

Yeah & I've seen some GM's, Ford's & Chryslers with questionable well, everything!

This is absolutely right.
The reality is that Chinese manufacturers/fabricators can build every bit as good or better product than domestically built offerings but at a lower price. I have been importing custom made metal goods built from mild steel and stainless steel (up to 12 gauge) for years now and the quality is phenomenal. During this time I have also tried repeatedly to work with domestic manufacturers and they cannot compete without cutting some pretty big corners and or by using lighter gauge metals. If whoever is producing these bumpers has clearly defined and strict q/c systems in place then the product will be fine.

174 lbs for the front bumper?! 101lbs for aluminum, if I'm reading that correctly?

Anyone over on GXOR order a set? I am needing a rear bumper at least after someone tagged me in a parking lot this week.

Brian deLoach ordered this bumpers. The pictures he showed looks good especially for $800. The $400 $hipping cost to NorCal negates the savings so for a couple of hundred more, I ordered an ARB and just pick up the GX at the body shop.. can't wait to see Brian's pix after installation

Thanks for the reply. I am not a facebook user so I don't see that stuff. Was that front and rear for the price of a single ARB? I had a bumper for another vehicle made by a local fabricator, if he wasn't perpetually backed up I would be pestering him to put something together for me. From the few pictures I have seen posted so far these Chinese bumpers don't look that bad honestly.

You don't need a Facebook account to view the gxor page.

Yep! I made it public for people just like you :) (I own GXOR)

Good to know, had to ditch it for work related privacy reasons and after hearing some of the family drama from those still using it I am not missing it a bit. I do miss out on pages like GXOR which sucks, but I have learned to live without it, so thanks for leaving it open! Maybe when I am finally retired I will play with social media again.

Can someone post some photos of this bumper? I cant access FB or ebay right now.

I did the same for 5 years, not sure while I am back on it other than following a couple of groups
