This is a pretty well documented forum truck. I had it shipped up from Florida in 2015. It originally started life out in Missouri before that. I basically cruise it around town in the summer and park it in the winter. Odometer shows just under 232,000. I'm not 100% sure how many miles are on the engine and trans, but I think the build thread mentions 41,000 at time of swap, so my guess is less than 80,000 on them. Original swap thread is here: Another cruiser gets a vortec
  • 2003 5.3L Vortec & 4L60E w/ TCI shift kit
  • Harness and ECU from Fuel Injection Specialists
  • 4L60E adapters from Advanced Adapters
  • Center drop headers from Advanced Adapters
  • Only running front O2 sensors, no cats
  • Downey front driveshaft, both driveshafts modified by Texas Truck Parts
  • Magnaflow mufflers w/ H pipe
  • 2” shackle lift
Typical 60/62 rust spots – primarily on roof above gutters and passenger back windows. Previous owner sanded, ospho'd and epoxied a lot of spots and he did a good job because they still look the same as when I bought the truck. Otherwise, there are rust spots that have been obviously worked on in rear wheel wells and back hatch (Nothing is hidden – it's obvious were work has been done). Bottom of rear passenger door is crusty and there is rust starting where mudflaps were mounted. The only amateur body work I did on it myself was on passenger roof above the rain gutter – it was the only spot that caught my eye from 20 feet away. I sanded down the rough epoxy and filled it over. Underneath is solid.

Here's the previous seller's walk around from 2015 so you can see how the passenger rain gutter looked before I sanded it down. Otherwise, truck still looks basically the same today as in this video.

Truck runs great. With the shift kit it will squeal the tires on the shift into 2nd if you get on it. Newer tie rod ends, relay rods and caster shims. AC works great but needs a recharge about every 2 years. Tach does not work – I always used Torque app over OBD2. Does throw 135/155 codes for O2 sensor heater circuit. I tested the heater circuits and they are fine and O2 sensors are working great per Torque app, so I assume it's a tuning thing. I just reset the codes when thrown and carry on.

Paint is old and faded with plenty of scratches. Stripe is just a decal that will come off easily. Driver seat is ripped under seat cover. Driver side front axle leaks at knuckle. Transfer case has a very small drip at output shaft, but never enough to need added to. Truck didn't have the reverse lights or NSS wired when I bough it. I rigged up the reverse lights to the Chevy trans wiring so they currently work and have a new Chevy NSS wiring harness included so you can wire the NSS switch and make the reverse light wiring a bit more permanent.

US Wheels Ratrod (series 68) 17x8 w/ BFG KO2s 285/70r17.

Here's most of the stuff I've done since I bought it:

2015:
  • Added new amp for rear speakers
  • New antenna mast
  • Added Blue Seas USB port to dash
  • New Dashmat
2016:
  • New driver rear wheel cylinder
  • New tie rod ends, relay rod ends, alignment
  • New rear hatch struts
2017:
  • New brake master cylinder
  • Sanded down and filled rust spots above passenger rain gutter
  • Installed new rear shoulder belts (Toyota oem non-retracting)
2018:
  • Added relays to power windows and locks
  • New tensioner pulley, idler pulley, AC tensioner & pulley, AC belt, Fan Clutch
  • New MAF sensor
  • New front axle 4 degree caster shims & u-bolts
  • New Pro Comp shocks on all 4 corners

Extra parts:
  • New in box Torfab BMW seat brackets
  • Black leather power 3-Series seats in nice shape
  • Kenwood speakers and Pioneer bluetooth stereo, all new in box
  • Lots of other bits and pieces, factory manual

Here's what it needs in my opinion:

  • Front axle / birfs rebuilt
  • Maybe the steering box rebuilt
  • Rest is to taste

...taken off the market.

I shot you a PM. As a note, I found the for sale thread from gwest who sold it and it said at the time you bought it, it had 80k-100k on the engine/transmission.

Yup, thanks...here's how I did my math: Carfax says 214k in 2006. Build thread says engine and trans were taken from a wrecked truck w/ 41k in 2007. And it has 232k on it today. That's why I felt somewhat safe saying less than 80k even factoring in the 33" tires.

So that's the best estimate I can give based on the information at hand, but take it all with a grain of salt given where I'm pulling the information from.

It's not going to stop raining....here's some snaps over lunch of a dirty truck in the drizzle:

Not up to west coast standards as far as rust, but above average for Chicago :)
In the last pic, I wire brushed that spot near rear driver bumpstop.

Shout out to She Mad, he called my bluff and I couldn't sell it. Taking it off the market for now.

do you like the shift kit on this? thinking about getting a TransGo going on mine.

It's fine I guess? If you take it easy it shifts relatively normal, hammer it and it snaps your neck. But I wouldn't miss it if it was removed tomorrow....
