I got a call today from a teacher at the other area high school. The Toy dealer told her she needs axle seals. I'm going to do hers and maybe mine on the same weekend. i'm thinking Saturday the 8th. I also have the coiled 40 with the doubler ready to go in and the SAS T-350 at the shop if you want to check out some non-80s stuff.

I can certainly clear off the other hoist if someone wants to do their own birf repack while the tools and supplies are out, or you can just watch and hang out and tell wheelin' stories.

Great, I would like to check that out :D. Funny I just got home late last night from a tech session with another club doing a 4” lift on a 40. All the parts were purchased from Specter and I wasn’t impressed with some of it but it worked.

Thanks for notifying us! I'm ready to go when you give us the time and place. Can't wait to learn more!

Perfect timing. I wouldn't coming out and learning/helping out. I'll order my stuff just in case a lift is open.

Thanks.
Ali

Sounds great. I'd love to see your bumper. I hope to have my powdercoat set up ready to coat mine by then, but I don't even have an oven yet.
I'm looking at getting to the school by 9:00am on Saturday the 8th. I just sent the estimate off to the lady with the bad axle seal, but I want to do mine even if she doesn't want hers done. The only other snafu might be that C-Dan is in Moab all week. I might have to get parts local. :bust2:

The shop is at Naperville Central High School.
440 W. Aurora in Naperville
The shop is on the back of the school off of Hillside, across from the tennis courts.
Hope all y'all can make it. :D

See you then. Powdercoat the bumper? :D :D :D :D :D

This tech day sounds like a great time...I'm in. I need to do mine also, so the first hand experience should be very valuable.

BTW I suppose since this is on school grounds means no beer while working?? Maybe afterwards? Please let me know if the time/place changes - I'm really looking forward to it. I'll bring the digi cam for live footage.

Todd,
Sounds like a cool tech day. I am down for the count for a few months from a car accident, but otherwise wouls be joining you for sure. I am dying to see that 40 anyways.
Hope all is well,
Goebs

Even better. :D

Naperville Central High School is located at 440 W. Aurora. The shop is one east-west street south of Aurora on the Hillside side of the school. There is one entrance to the parking lots off of Hillside. The shop is dead nuts in front of the entrance. Two big garage doors with a T-100 on 38s parked outside.
Shop number is 630-420-6618.

I'll be there kinda early, hope to start on the Birfs by 10. :birf:

I'll grab some Krispy kreems on the way in. :D That should get Junk to drive out.

i got your post on cruizers.com and replied, but i figured i would reply on this site too. thanks for the heads up on the tech day at naperville central. :)

i gotta work today and can't make it! :(

also, my crankshaft pulley has not arrived yet, so i can do much with my fj60. >:(

by the way, i live around the corner from naperville central. if you go down hillside toward washington, you will see my rig sitting in the shell station parking lot!
:)

i am a newbee to the landcruiser world and really to car maintenance/repair in general. instead of dipping my toe in the water, i jumped right in and bought a landcruiser to work on and drive as a daily driver. so i could be considered an idiot i suppose

i just figured what the heck. i luckily have a company car to fall back on for the next month or so until i get th fj60 going. it seems to be in pretty good shape overall, but i had it shipped here and it arrived with the crankshaft pulley hanging from the belt. appears it possibly happened during shipping, or so the seller indicates. no recourse from the shipping company though >:(

i hope to run into some of the chicago area lc owners in the future. i will probably need some help at times! :bust2:

You betcha! Got my Birfs done. Really glad I did. Needed axle seals again.
Ali is on the hoist right now. He's doing the whole job. Trunion bearings and all.
Only thing better than wrenching on a Landcruiser is wrenching with new friends. :D

Gumby,
Thanks for the use of the lift and the hand. It's a rare luxury for us commoners to be able to use a lift! Also thanks to Archie for sticking around 'till 11 pm to help me button things up.

great if i had known it was going on for that long, i would have pushed my rig up there for some help!

i got the part in yesterday while i was at work, so i curse my luck on not being able to get some of you guys expertise/help yesterday over at central. i went by and looked at the old pulley, what is left of it today. it looks like it basically sheared in half. one half is still on the crankshaft and the other fell off and was hanging off of the belt. i am a newbee, so i am hesitant to try the repair myself + i don't have the wrench to fit the nut. i am fairly new to naperville, so any ideas on a mechanic that might get it repaired right? i am not so sure about the mechanic at shell. nice guy, but i don't know if he knows how to go about doing the repair either. he said he could "try". does not give me confidence hearing that..... ???
