So one of my biggest pet peeves is the rear hatch drooping down and hitting me in the head or not staying up at all (especially when it's cold) After leaning into the truck yesterday and drilling my head into the corner as the hatch fell down at the same time...almost knocked my self out and bled all over the place... I decided to figure something out.
Here's what I came up with.
Picture 1 is a cable clamp used to neaten up computer cables and the like under your desk. Available on amazon and homo depot. I taped some hard foam to the inside of the jaw with electrical tape.
Picture 2 is the clamp holding up the hatch. Originally my pistons still hold the hatch up ok when it's warm and just barely when it's cold (as long as I don't sneeze) So this fix might not work if your pistons are completely shot.
Picture 3 is where I'll store the clip when not in use. Just a zip tie on the handle.
I know a stick or snow scraper will work just as well but I would always seems to knock those over while loading/unloading. This is going to work for me.
