OK - stuck at work, FSM at home. Office sacrificed a paper clip in the name of diagnostics. hehehe

Check engine light came on while out at lunch. Code 26. What is it?

Wondering if it's going to have anything to do with the water that came over my hood twice while driving to work today. Got trapped in the right lane and went thru a couple large pools of water a little faster than I probably should have. Mid October and SoCal already has over 1/3 of it's annual rainfall in the last 4 days - over 5 inches and more coming tonight! This territory can't handle deluges like this.
 
Does it have a snorkel? :idea: Not a sermon, just a thought. :cool:

No snorkel. :whoops: No real need. It would just be bling. Not that I wouldn't mind having one, just have a golf habit I'd rather support. hehehe :flipoff2:

A 26 is a fuel ratio rich malfunction.

I would clear the code and see if you get it again.


Oh, bling IS why you get a snorkel.....;)
 
Thanks Dan! Which fuse is it that I need to pull? (edit - I think I found in search - EFI fuse the correct one?)

She was idling a little rough and I guess a fuel ratio would account for that. I was dreading another O2 sensor.

And if it comes back, what am I potentially look at doing/needing done? :confused:

Damn!

Intermitent problem. Pulled the EFI fuse for a minute or so before leaving work last night. Check engine light stayed on until about half way home and then went off and stayed off the rest of the way.

Start her up this morning and after a few seconds the check engine light comes back on and stays on the whole way to drop off kids at school and back home to check the code. Another 26. Head off to work and after about 5 minutes the light goes off and stays off the rest of the way to work. Interestingly, she doesn't idle as rough after light goes off either.

Could something have gotten 'damp' after the water I had to go thru yesterday and 'dries out' once the engine has been at operating temp for about 10-15 minutes?

This is fast becoming a semi-emergency as Scout troop is headed up to the mountains this weekend and yours truely is towing the trailer. Last thing I want is to stall out or die with 6 kids and a trailer on a two lane mountain road this weekend. Only option is to see if I can get into dealer tomorrow.

Experts, please chime in. Thanks!

I don't have the FSM here at work but maybe someone can look in the troubleshooting section and see if it points to an O2 sensor or something like that. That might give us a clue as to whether you should chance it this weekend.

Mine is in the back of the cruiser, i'll go get it.

cant find a 26?

would that be a PO172?
System too rich trouble area= fuel line pressure
injector blockage, leak
heated oxygen sensor malfunction
mass air flow meter
engine coolant temp sensor

Thanks for the offer E. Got a pm diagnosis of multitude of probable causes from the FSM. :eek:

I gots the right book too, just not the right noodles to completely understand how everything is scrambled!
