Nice! What leather kit did you use?

In the final image, the description provides a link to the place in Texas. eBay listing. Quality stuff. Looks OEM. All the pics have a bit of description. Not sure if that is obvious.

Ah, I just looked at the overview - didn't go through the individual pictures to see captions. I will keep that in mind for if/when my seat wears out. Thanks!

Nicely done......thx for sharing.

Upholstery always seemed like this voodoo origami skill but honestly with the correctly cut pieces and a cheap pair of hog ring pliers, it's a oil change kind of complexity. Just takes a bit of time.

I also bought a set of these armrest covers as the drivers side was pretty worn out. They slip over the existing leather. The shade and texture is off a bit if you look closely but the average person sitting in the car won't take notice.
Seat Armrest Leather for Lexus GX 470 03-09 Beige | eBay

Great write-up, thanks for sharing! I changed out my seat bottom last night using the same ebay vendor's leather seat cover. The color is a perfect match and it's great to have a seat without a hole in it again.

I didn't find the arm rest covers by themselves, but I just did a replacement of the leather on the front seats including arm rest and head rest. I found the entire front kit for $349 plus tax/shipping at LSeat.com. I then paid $400 to get them installed at an auto upholstery shop near me. You can save the $400 if you can do it yourself.

My seat bottoms were ripped especially the driver's side and the arm rests didn't look happy. I had asked the upholstery shop if they can add an extra layer of foam to the seats, so that the new leather would fit snug, but it doesn't look like they did that. The leather feels a little loose, but not too bad.

Overall, the new leather feels and looks good. I'm happy with it. I got the "dim gray" and it's like 98% the same color as the oem leather color. I should take new pictures since the leather wrinkles have smoothed out.

Dim Gray Front Seats Leather Replacement on 2003 GX470

Thanks, brother! Your seats looks really good to me! They look just like the leather seats in my 2010 Rav4 Limited V6 with the vent holes and all. My OEM GX470 seats are stitched differently and without the vents.

I need to go through that entire thread...

Just did new leather myself. Heating elements require a decent basting tool for proper install. No one seems to do that right. Jo Ann Fabrics sells the tool.

New seat padding is a available on ebay.

To get leather to fit you need either a steam gun, heat gun or to let the seats sit in the sun. Lack of padding is not the issue, they are made to be loose at first so that you can get them on.

Also hodge-podging one new seat bottom and keeping old leather backs is ok, but all new leather on both front seats makes the truck feel new again. Night and day driving experience. It’s a relatively cheap kit from lseat.

Matches perfect, I forget the color. Biscuit maybe? They will send you a card of swatches for the cost of shipping.

Looks great. I'm going to add this to the to-do list, probably after a dash replacement.

Biggest difference is honestly going from old, hard, dried out leather to new soft supple baby butt leather. It just feels good to sit on now.

My leather is still fairly supple, it's just getting some micro-cracks and tears in it. It will probably look pretty bad within the next 1-2 years as the tears progress to gashes. I've given it a Lexol treatment at every detail.
