Have anyone used Champion 18001 8000 Lb. Winch Kit?? Are they any good?? Any common on it? Because I found a new one for $250. But want to see whats other think of it.:D

It has a reduction planetary gear system ratio of 294:1 and features a 3.6 horsepower, 12 Volt DC Series Wound motor ensuring superior performance. This winch kit includes a cam action free spooling clutch plus a 95 feet long and 0.31 inch thick galvanized aircraft cable with clevis hook.
  • Mounting channel
  • Roller fairlead
  • Power in/out controller for handlebar or cargo rack mounting
  • Snatch block
  • D-shackle

Thank you

I don't know anything specific about it, but 3.6 hp is not competitive with similar Chinese winches which have 5-6 hp and 1:294 is a lower line speed to compensate for the weak motor. It would be easy to find better specs in the same price range.

I strongly recommend it. A friend had it on his 70 series and has got us out of trouble several many many times. The 8000 lb pull my 80 with no trouble.

A dealership I worked for had one on their car trailer. Its still there after 5 years. Lots of use but not much abuse, except the elements. A lot of winter road grime spray from I70 in the winter. I liked the controls.

But for my wheeling truck where the winch could make the difference between getting home or a night in the woods... I'd choose something else personally. You do get what you pay for, for the most part.
